Take Care While Travelling In Christmas

Christmas Bells are ready to ring and planning’s for celebration is getting momentum. Delicious cakes and those tiny bells on the Christmas tree. Christmas brings along with itself pleasure happiness and most importantly smiles on everyone’s faces. It is that time when no one is busy and everyone is there for everyone. The celebration…the cakes…the gifts, and going for Holidaying!

But there is one thing I would like to share with you all. Year 2009 was rocked with the deadly Swine Flu. I know you will cringe that at this time I am talking about swine flu and all but believe me…this cannot be ignored. Christmas comes in the month of December when it is cold and as we all know by now that H1N1 virus spreads faster in cold and humid weather when the air molecules are closer. It becomes easier for this tiny virus to travel in such weather. To make our Christmas safe and merrier, I’m sharing a little info as precautionary steps that will certainly help you while you holidaying…

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. . "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (except to eat or bathe).

3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Gargling prevents proliferation. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.

5. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C. If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

Sure this simple but very effective precaution will keep you hale hearty all the way to your great festive celebration… So MERRY CHRISTMAS! Make The Best Of It.

Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven, But Nobody Wants To Die…

A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, "Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.”The Lord” led the holy man to two doors.
He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy man said, "I don't understand."
It is simple.”Said the Lord”, It requires one skill. You see, they have learned to feed each other. While the greedy think only of themselves.
Lesson for all of us very simple and clear.

Kala Ghoda Festival - A Must See

Sunday evening I got down town to catch the glimpse of Kala Ghoda festival. It is the most sought-after fair for the lovers of art and craft. It is something I always look forward to. The art work they put there is fascinating. You have no choice but to look and admire each and everything they display there. Kala Ghoda brings along with it oodles of talent and enthusiasm. It is a melting pot of art, culture, food and shopping! It’s irresistible! The festival runs for one week and has over 320 programs - all of which are free. The festival was inaugurated amidst great fanfare by the dapper Jackie Shroff and Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandhan. I’d gone there with my family. My dad is a great art lover. He eagerly waits for this festival. Apart from the fact that it doesn’t cost anything the most attractive thing about the festival is its diversity. There is something of interest for everyone. It is a platform where artists from fields of art, craft, music, dance, theatre present a vibrant culture show. The Mumbai police ensured to make the festival safe for the citizens so that they can enjoy the festival without any cares. We should be grateful to the organizers for organizing this festival and giving a chance to the young talents to portray their skills. And they are always appreciated. The Kala Ghoda festival is an exciting and interactive public space that ordinary citizens from all walks of life can access. It is refreshing. One can enjoy the performances or just laze around scanning the stalls with a beverage or snack. Encircling dance, drama, music, workshops and much more, the Kala Ghoda Festival of India adds glitter, glamour and enthusiasm to Mumbai.
